  1. I am all for physician assisted suicide. If I were in a situation in which I knew I was going to die and there was no chance of getting better, then I would consider PAS. I would not want to put my family through the suffering, nor would I want to go through the suffering. As we saw on the video, medicine can only help us to a certain extent. There comes a point where the pain can no longer be managed, we can no longer perform ADL's, and the fact that we know in our heads this is going on but cannot do anything about it is just horrible. I used to not be for it, but after watching my grandpa die of kidney cancer and seeing my family go through everything we went through now I have a new take on it.

  2. I am totally against physician assisted suicide. I am a strong supporter of Hospice and pallative care. There is alot to be said for making someone comfortable in the last days of their life. Yes people need to feel that they are in charge of their care but I also feel that suicide in any form is wrong and when you get to the point that you can no longer take care of yourself and you are diagnosed with a terminal disease, I feel that you should choose hospice and make yourself comfortable. And to thise who say they want to die at home they do have home hospice services so that can be possible. I have seen family members die and my great aunt was in hospice and it made it more comforting to see how comfortable they made her in the last few days of her life.

  3. I also think that PAS is totally acceptable under the circumstances outlined in the Oregon Law. If there is absolutely no hope, or the alternative is too painful to undergo, I believe the patient should be able to make an autonomous decision to end their own life. When it comes to the doctor’s point of view, they should try to not take a personal standpoint in the situation. The patient should be able to choose how to end their life if the end is painfully imminent. The stipulations outlined in this Law are very clear and pretty fool-proof as far as liability issues go. If I were in a situation and had the option of choosing PAS I most likely would.
